Interviews

First Impressions:

Opinions are made about people in the first few minutes of an interview.

Make a good impression:

  • Arrive early
  • Dress neatly/well presented/smart
  • Make eye contact/look interested/smile

Prepare:

  • Know about the employer/what they make/what their services are
  • Know what questions you are likely to be asked/make a list/know your answers
  • What questions are you going to ask/make a list/have it ready for reference

Technique:

  • Answer any questions positively and as fully as possible
  • Pause and think about the answer/ask for clarification if you are unsure
  • Use examples as proof
  • If you don't know the answer to the question – say so
  • State your opinions clearly and simply
  • Be honest

If you don't get the job, don't give up. Often, it is just that another candidate is better suited or qualified. You too may have been able to do the job successfully.
